  • A Family Passion for Beekeeping

We’re Bees from Bundaberg, and our family has been producing raw Australian honey since 2014. If you’ve ever tasted raw honey straight from the comb – thick and alive with the flavours of the Queensland bushland – you already know why we can’t imagine doing anything else.

Our honey is proudly produced in Bundaberg. But the story begins somewhere else entirely.

It starts in South East Queensland, in the Gold Coast hinterland, where our father Tico was working as a handyman at a local property.

He noticed something nobody else had bothered to fix. The hives on the property had been neglected more than they’d been kept – rotting timber, frames black with old propolis. Yet the bees, to their credit, were still trying.

Tico knew what a healthy hive looked like. Since he was nine, he’d visited his grandfather’s apiary up in the mountains, where the honey he helped extract was always bountiful. He knew what had to be done, so he cleared the area, refurbished what he could, sourced what he couldn’t, and gave those bees a fighting chance.

  • Seasonal Honey with Character

They recovered. They thrived. A healthy hive doesn’t lie – within a season, the proof was in the frames. The colony grew, and when it split, we had hives of our own. That was over a decade ago. The bees are still with us.

For nine years we produced honey in the Gold Coast hinterland. When the chance came to move north to Bundaberg, it wasn’t a hard decision. We needed land that makes sense to people like us, and to our bees. Somewhere the blooms are generous, the winters mild, the work meaningful, and the dirt under your fingernails honest. Bundaberg delivers all of that, and its native flora gives our raw honey flavours that shift with the seasons. We know, because we eat honey every day.

Today, the whole family is part of what the bees-ness needs. Tico grew up watching his grandfather pull frames from the hive – he didn’t know that one day his wife and daughters would stand beside him doing the same. Different land, different bees, same philosophy: work with nature, respect the bees, and trust that good things come with time.

The honey in our jars is proof of that.
